Over the Thanksgiving holiday I pulled out my old shoe box with my baseball cards stashed inside. Talk about bringing back memories going through the cardboard images. I found my Pete Rose rookie card and my thoughts raced to how Major League Baseball continues to give Pete the shaft. Pete didn't do anything to falsely re-write the record books with the use of chemical enhancement. No, he wasn't a saint, but he has come clean on his gambling vices. Let him in the Hall of Fame guys. Do the right thing.
There are quite a few new rebrandings in minor league baseball this year. Among those that come to mind, Asheville Tourists, Wisconsin Timber Wolves, Altoona Curve, and the Kannapolis Intimidators. The minors continue to spark real interest among fans and collectors alike. Check em' out.
We are still having problems with outside (non-American) individuals blocking our site traffic and e-mails. New info has been sent to the FBI-ICU complaint we have open. Just hope these schmucks are brought to light. Have a good one. E-mail us at logoshak@hushmail.com

It's hard to believe, but it has been 16 years since we first published sports graphics on the internet. We started "The Sports Page" on September 15th, 1994 using a new fangled graphic enabled browser. Was a mismash of logos and sports programs and sports guides. Things have morphed over the years to today's Logo Shak. Going to OutBack tonight and celebrate.
This has to be the best time of the year. US Open tennis, college and pro football starting up and baseball heading down the home stretch. Hoping we get a break from the record breaking heat we have had this summer. Going to Durham this weekend to see the Blue Devils take on the #1 Crimson Tide of Alabama. Should be an interesting contest.
Carolina Hurricanes owner Peter Karmanos is looking for investors. If you have a couple of hundred thousand bucks laying around, give him a call. The team has cut the payroll to the bone and will likely have a tough time this season.
Take care

What will that horse's ass, Chris Creamer do next? First he is accepting American logos from the former Soviet Union and declaring that they are his exclusively to post on the internet. Now he is sending phish out over the net to block net traffic and possibly spread malicious code. We have contacted his server, SMV and complained about this and his use of their bandwidth to make malicious accusations. Stay tuned.
Well Nascar continues to try and destroy the sport. They have taken one of Atlanta's dates and handed it to Kentucky for the 2011 season. One day the TV cash and fans will run out. Not even Danica will make up for the loss of the sport's tradional tracks.
Come on Roger, fess up. You did it and denying it won't change anything. I think all steroid users should be kept out of the Hall of Fame. You let them in and you got to put Pete in.
Have a good one and take a clown fishing.

Been a while posting on the blog. Have concentrated adding content to the Shak. Have added over 500 new graphics over the past several months. Stay tuned.
As a livelong resident of the Triangle area of North Carolina, I was disturbed the past several weeks with news out of the University of North Carolina @ Chapel Hill Athletic Department. First the news that legendary basketball coach Dean Smith is dealing with health issues. Coach Smith is a class act and we hope that he feels great and continues a comfortable retirement. Second, the NCAA is investigating the UNC football program. Something to do with agents contacting select players. Greed continues to cause problems with athletic programs. Hope they clean this situation up.
Athletes who hang on to long to their glory days. Lance Armstrong had an embarrassing Tour de France. He should have hung his chains up and moved on. Formula One driver Michael Schumacher has seven world championships, he has nothing left to prove. Finally, good luck A-Rod in getting that 600th round tripper.

Hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable holiday. I hope we all remembered the purpose of Memorial Day to honor those men and women who have sacrificed so that we can enjoy Freedom and Security.
I can't help thinking recently about another high profile athlete admitting to using performance enhancing drugs after lying about it for most of his career. Floyd Landis is not content with airing his soul out before the public but has to drag others down with him. Who's next. How many more sports will be tainted before something iron clad is done to regulate this mess?
It's not too late to send me your list of your favorite sports logos. Just send them to: logoshak@gmail.com
I will be getting my list up soon. Remember, now is a great time to redo your ratty bathroom.
Take care

Wow, its been a while since I posted on the blog. Have had incredibly bad luck with computer hardware. First our 10 year old XP machine gave up the ghost and we had to replace it with a Windows 7 machine. Then our secondary HP computer with 7 OS became corrupt and had to be reloaded. We have had two weeks of smooth sailing but we are keeping our fingers crossed.
Thanks to everyone who have submitted their list of favorite logos. We hope to post on the results of our poll in the near future. Please send in your Top Ten list of you favorite logos to:
logoshak@gmail.com
Finally, congratulations to the hometown Duke Blue Devils for winning their 4th National Championship. Way to go Coach K and here's looking for # 5 real soon.

The Vancouver Olympics are finally over. I don't know what it is, but if I had to watch another skier going down a mountain, I was going to scream. I used to like the Winter Games but now I can't get into them. Do they really need to keep inventing new Olympic events? What next, 8 man bobsledding or hair curling? I now wait with baited breath for the London games. I hope we don't see Ballroom dancing there.
Nascar keeps getting more pitiful. The pothole at Daytona and empty stands at California. How much money does the France family need? They traded the traditions of the sport for more money and now they are paying the price. Is Danica Patrick really the answer? How about race cars that look like stock cars.
I am compiling my Top Ten all time logos list. Will bring them out on the next posting. Let me know what your Top Ten list is. E-mail it to asgsports@gmail.com

Another character in baseball's steroid era has lifted his ugly head. Mark McGwire admitted he used steroids and other performance enhancing drugs over a 10 year period. Does this make it okay to lie to the public and break records he otherwise would not have? How does the family and fans of Roger Maris feel to have his records and memory defiled. Shouldn't Major League Baseball put an asterick or something beside the records of anyone who used steroids during this period of baseball history? Doesn't this continue to bring the professional in Professional Sports in question to the public? It continues to cast a long dark shadow across all playing fields.
Another embarrassment was revealed over the winter. That of Tiger Woods and the question of whether privacy is granted to anyone who takes millions in endorsement money based on his integrity and market value. Tiger, you fooled me with your sterling image and golfing ability. But you threw your right to privacy out the window when you signed that first endorsement contract. Don't know if you can ever regain the public's trust by hiding behind a cloak of "privacy". This may be one sand trap you can't pitch out of.
