NC State defeated Duke this afternoon at Wallace Wade Stadium 28-21. That was Duke's 30th straight conference loss. But, things are looking up for the Blue Devils. The school fired head coach Carl Franks last week and replaced him with defensive coach Ted Roof. The Devils appeared to play with a renewed purpose today and maybe this is the beginning of better days ahead for the duke football program. With Miami,Fla and Virginia Tech entering the ACC next year, things better look up.
The lowest of the low hockey minor leagues cranked up last night. Talking about the Southeast Hockey League. Yes this four team collection of teams is playing what appears to be a round robin schedule of games. The Winston-Salem franchise got sponsor money from a Canadian brewery and was going to be called Moosehead. But a disagreement last week has caused the team to be called Winston-Salem Hockey Team for at least the next few weeks. Shades of the Baltimore team in the CFL a few years back.
